Speaking of 90's punk records that insisted on bleeding into the mainstream, I give you Dookie.

This particular Green Day album is responsible for inspiring musicians from every scene to pick up a guitar. If you're not familiar with it, go get it. Listen to it, maybe start a band. The world could always use more music like this.
